Obama nostalgia, even among black people, is simply unacceptable & actually embarrassing at this point. It’s not 2008-2009 anymore. Even for ppl in our 20s…we are not in middle/high school anymore. Grow up. The only options are admitting that the man killed countless innocent people (including people at a wedding or 16 year old children) and strengthened imperialism & white supremacy or admitting that you do not care about that fact. If it’s the latter, you might as well say it with your chest.
I’m in no was trying to invalidate the lives that were lost and trust me when I say that there were a lot of things that Obama’s did that I didn’t agree with, but, in the face of a president like trump, I feel like we are allowed a little nostalgia for somewhat better days.
No, you are not. What makes your personal feelings of “nostalgia” & comfort more important than the feelings of terror that victims of drone strikes feel, whether they be sent by Obama or Trump? It makes no difference to them & their families and to think otherwise makes you a chauvinist, which is a central problem with most Americans. As I mentioned, it would be better to just admit that you value your feelings more than their lives, which is better than this “I don’t agree with everything…” song and dance.
